The journey began at Newark Airport, with a flight to Brussels. Eight hours on a plane can be very exhausting, but sleeping and watching a funny movie like Easy A helped pass the time. Overall the flight was not too bad; although the Belgian man who sat next to me loved turning on his phone in the during the flight. Problems only really started to arise on the train ride to Maastricht.
Maybe twenty minutes into the the train ride from the airport to Maastricht, the train started to break down. First it randomly stopped between stations, then it stopped at Bressoux. With the train operator saying it could be up to two hours before the train would start again. Luckily, I met a lovely swiss woman named Rhoda who spoke English, and helped interpret French for me. We eventually discovered that in order for me to get to Maastricht I would need to take a bus to Garde Vise, then take another bus to Maastricht. I caught the first bus, but the second bus was no where to be found so Belgian man and I realized we needed to wait forty minutes to catch the next train to Maastricht (which was now running again).
After reaching Maastricht, I waited for a friend to come back to his apartment so I could leave most of my stuff with him and then go off to Eindhoven to catch my flight to London. There were no real problems with that leg of the trip except for the fact that two Dutch women were eating on the bus to the airport (when they were not supposed to be), so the driver refused to move until they got off. I and a bunch of other traveling students caught the next one, with time to catch our flights.
Next I'll be posting some photos of London. Many with Jojo, and our trip to the Tate and Imperial War Museum.
